At Mountain Meadow Ranch, birthdays aren’t just special—they’re legendary! Whether your camper’s big day falls during their time at MMR or not, we believe every birthday should be filled with fun, laughter, and a little camp magic.
Here’s how we make MMR birthdays unforgettable:
The VIP Treatment
From the moment they wake up, birthday campers wear a special birthday button, letting everyone at camp know it’s their day! And as a birthday bonus, they get first pick of activities for both the morning and afternoon activity periods.
A Cake Bigger Than The Celebration
A full sheet-sized cake (flavor of their choice!) appears at dinner, personalized just for them. Not a cake fan? No worries—we’ll get a cake for the festive vibes and pick-up their alternative dessert of choice!
The Legendary MMR Birthday Song
A director kicks things off by standing up and announcing:
👉 “Today is a very special day at Mountain Meadow Ranch.”
The entire camp immediately erupts into a rhythmic table-banging chant:
“So what! Who cares? Not us! Big Deal! Son of a gun, son of a you-know-what! (Director’s name)!”
The director then plays along, calling on campers to guess why today is special. Campers throw out all kinds of silly answers: “It’s National Koala Day in Australia!” or “It’s the anniversary of the first grilled cheese!”—all met with an enthusiastic “Oh, very special… but not quite what today is about! Anyone else?”
Finally, someone shouts the real answer—“It’s (name)’s birthday!”—and the entire dining hall erupts in cheers!
Now, the specially trained MMR Birthday Singers take over, wandering through the dining hall while singing the birthday introduction:
🎵 “Today is a birthday, we wonder for who?
We know it’s for somebody, right in this room.
So look all around you for somebody who…
is laughing and smiling, my goodness, it’s YOU!”
Once they “find” the birthday camper, they bring them up front and lead the entire camp in singing the official MMR Birthday Song:
🎶 “Happy Birthday, (Camper’s Name)! From all of us to you,
Happy Birthday, (Camper’s Name)! From all of your loved ones, too!
We congratulate you, from all of us to you!
Happy Birthday, (Camper’s Name), may all of your good dreams come true!”
And of course, it all wraps up with the traditional Happy Birthday song we all know and love.
A Lagoon Huck!
To top it all off, the birthday camper gets to choose four counselors or staff members to huck them into the lagoon! (Don’t worry, it’s all in good fun!) Not a fan of being tossed in? They can pick another camper as their proxy to take the plunge in their honor!
